Byron Bay has made it to Melbourne! Byron Bay famous for a relaxed and often alternative way of life is also home to the scrumptious Byron Bay Cookies (and now macrons).

Gourmet Cookies

This evening on the hunt for a vegetarian soup for dinner at David Jones (vegan red curry soup – success) I wandered around the food hall and stumbled on their new display.

For me these cookies have been all about that little luxurious treat while traveling. I have tried them while flying, while waiting for a plane and have given them as a gift. They are all about the rich flavors and buttery goodness. They also have an awesome Gluten Free range.

They have, in the past, been available online, at Brisbane airport, on airplanes and of course Byron Bay – so it’s definitely been a welcome addition to the Melbourne cookie scene.

I was excited to note they have also succumbed to the Macaron craze and I couldn’t resist.

For journalistic integrity, and to guide you should you visit (the sacrifices I make for you!), I tried a pistachio macaron from Byron Bay Cookies and one from the range also stocked at DJ’s.

The BBC macaron was traditional size, perfect texture, tasted of pistachios and had a white chocolate ganache centre – yum!

The Babycakes macaron was larger than normal, sweet and had a cream(ish) filling.

Can’t wait to head back and perhaps persuade some friends to try the cookies.
