A Gypsy Hideout…
Gypsy Hideout is tucked on the High St row of shops in Westgarth Village, in fact it's one of those place I had simply never noticed before. A bright, cheery little cafe with a nice outdoor space and parasols for a sunny day this place is a great find in this brunch prolific area.   I met Bean and Dino here one Sunday morning before we headed up the road to Northcote Town hall and Take 2 Markets. I arrived first so ordered a "Gypsy Elixer" aka a red berry juice that arrived surprisingly ... Read More

Looking for the Main St…
I was recommended a visit to Main St, Mordialloc by CJ when trying to find something nice somewhere on the way to Cheltenham DFO for lunch. CJ as always can pick a winner and her referral of this cafe that would have been just as happy in Fitzroy was a great find.   Main St is oddly enough tucked along the Main St in Mordialloc right at the end of the Neapean Highway in a lovely old historic building on the corner. The restaurant is all about exposed brick, brown paper specials ... Read More

Crossing the Moat…
When a few months ago I heard that the Moat, a new cafe/bar/restaurant, was opening under the State Library in Melbourne I was thrilled. But then I dawdled and delayed and for some reason simply didn't find time to go visit. Silly me. Last Thursday in dire need a glass of bubbles Dino and I headed here for a post work drink and noise catch up. The Moat is located to the side and underneath the State Library near the entrance to the Wheeler Centre. You walk through iron gates, down ... Read More

Call the switchboard…
The Switchboard Café tucked into two small nook in the wall spaces at the foot of the Manchester Union building is absolutely enchanting in its very own quirky way. I have long had an obsession with the stunning building for its old world charm and history and the café serves it all up right on a plate…or in a cup. Looking for somewhere to head for a quick and easy lunch I wondered past the switchboard cafe and was tempted by the people eating avocado on toast outside in the walkthrough ... Read More

Sing me an aria…
There is just something about getting to take tea in an elegant hotel that makes my world right, so when looking for somewhere to head post silent cinema the Langham and more specifically the Aria Bar and lounge sounded perfect.    Bean, Dino and I headed around Southbank originally looking for a bar and did a quick 180 (a girls perogative I believe) and decided tea was really what we were after (yup – wild child) somewhere serene and lovely and well Langham ish to settle down and have ... Cupcakes by Paolo…
Cupcakes are a topic I could happily discuss with you for some time, so when I had the chance to try out one of Melbourne new buzz cupcakeries, Cupcakes by Paolo, I was quite excited.    Bean, Dino and I piled into the car and headed off to theire West Footscray Cupcakes by Paolo shoppe (about a twenty five minute drive from the CBD) ready to soak in the cupcakey goodness. We arrived at the store sitting in a set of a few little shops on the edge of a busy road where a few guys were ... Read More
