Arcadia in the air…
When looking for a cheap steak night a few weeks ago, Apple directed us towards the Arcadia Hotel in South Yarra. While the steak surprisingly enough for me vegetarian self wasn't the object we were after somewhere that would feed Mr Meat and Potato and Moss Vegetarian (moi) and this place could do it with ease.   We went after a surprisingly warm day at the beach and climbed the flight of stairs to the packed rooftop bar/bistro air. The Arcadia Hotel (link) is very well pub like and ... Read More

Is that the Estelle Bar and Kitchen…
The Estelle Bar and Kitchen in Northcote was a bit of a surprise. When HD suggested it as a pre comedy festival event the rest of us were all happy to go along with the suggestion and take it from there.   Arriving at the Estelle ( Estelle Bar and Kitchen) we were greated by a lovely interior with rich wood and cool tiles and it's small - not super small just intimate small. We sat down and were offered the wine list which we happily accepted. The wine varieties were good although ... Read More

Melbourne's very own little wolf, Lupino…
Tucked away on Little Collins behind white washed brick walls sits one of Melbourne's newest Italians, Lupino. When I was told we were being taken to an Italian restaurant with pasta "like momma used to make" I was thrilled. I love those authentic feeling Italian restaurans.   We headed over to Lpino during the lunch rush and found it next to the back of the Melbourne Club tucked along a little side street. The only reason we found it was the small red fox outline glowing above the door.   We ... Read More

Wine don't you bank on Bendigo…
When looking for a great lunch spot in Bendigo (especially if you are off to an exhibit at the Art Gallery) The Wine Bank on Viewis hard to pass by. Tucked halfway down the hill the gallery resides in this old victorian bank now wine cellar/restaurant/bar was a fantastic recommendation by HD. The gang and I headed up to Bendigo the weekend before Easter for a fantastic day trip to see the Grace Kelly Exhibition and had been trying to find somewhere for lunch beforehand.   The Wine Bank ... Kenzan can you….
There are some places in the Melbourne CBD that are just crazy busy every lunchtime and Kenzan at the back of the Melbourne GPO building is defiantly one of them.   This Japanes eatery has two locations in Melbourne with a more formal restaurant at Collins Place and this lanewayesque dine in and take away restaurant at the GPO. Kenzan inside has limited communal seating but the covered (and heated) lanewayesque area has plenty of seating options as does a small pace inside the GPO itself. It's ... Read More

Wind your way along the Boulevard…
A few weeks ago the girls and I paid a visit to The Boulevard Restaurant in Kew. Perched upon a hill overlooking the golf course this place could be on a country estate; it's only the glimpse of the city skyline a few kilometers away that confirms you are about ten minutes away. The Boulevard restaurant is primarily a stunning function centre that doubles as a restaurant. We visited using one of those coupon vouchers that gave us two courses and wine for two for $49. It was wonderful value. ... Read More
