What’s up doc…
I knew one day I would find an excuse to use this as my title - all it took was heading to Forty Carrots, the Bloomingdales institution in New York. Now wipe that recollection of the Myer cafe from when we were kids from our minds and think fresh and bright and specializing in frozen yoghurt. Yup. Frozen Yoghurt. Tucked away on one of the upper floors, just past the Ralph Lauren bedding section this cheerful and always packed cafe is one of those places that's just easy. Forty Carrots has a widely ... Fantastic Fifth…

New York knows how to do great bars, they know how to do great rooftops and they know how to show off their stunning skyline. My favorite New York bar, 230 Fifth does all of this at once. The bar is located in lower mid town (not far from Madison Square Park) on top of a tall office block. I remember when they opened a few years ago and the queues were right around the block. These days its normally not to bad unless its a sunny friday evening in summer. When we arrived we swept in past the security ... Read More

Magnolia Bakery Magic…
As if I could visit New York and not go to the Magnolia Bakery! This is iconic New York loved as much by locals as tourists. Heaven. The Magnolia Bakery has opened a few additional stores since I lived there years ago and while it was on my list to visit when I made it to the West Village I was pleased to find one tucked into the side of Bloomingdales. Could a girl ask for anything nicer for a mid shop break? This girl couldn't. Unless perhaps it was an unlimited gift card... Magnolia ... Read More

Tea at the Plaza…
I have always wanted to take tea at the Plaza. Think old world glamour resting on the edged of Central Park and Fifth Ave. It is here the cheeky Eloise ran the halls and Big married Natasha think Funny Girl, Sleepless in Seattle and Home Alone 2. This place is timeless, elegant and finally I had the opportunity to go. One of my favorite discoveries in leaving my back packing years behind has been that instead of grabbing my water to sip as I walk along the street for a few more ... Read More

You’re the top…
Are you a Bendel Girl? Every girl needs a home wherever she is, some may tell you to look to your heart but when in New York I say look to Bendels. Henri Bendel has to be my favorite department store in New York, it's perhaps one of the smallest but it's the kind of place that has that amazing thing, a brilliant buyer. I nearly always wish I owned most of their stock be it luxurious cashmere scarfs, the perfect gossip girl esque headband or the latest Alex Woo necklace (this store is sooo Gossip ... Read More

So very Manhattan …
I think brunch may well be a New York institution and Berry and I managed to stumble (ok, iPhone google) the quintessential New York home to brunch, Brasserie located on 53rd. This was our destination pre MOMA and Berry couldn't have chosen better. This beautiful French, well, Brasserie is so New York that I half kept an eye out for Carrie with Mr Big, the Cashmere Mafia set, Blair Waldorf and the gossip girls. Upon entering we were ushered politely down the central glass staircase feeling incredibly ... Read More
