Heffernan Lane, Melbourne…
I really like how random Melbourne can be and Heffernan Lane, sandwiched (or dumplinged or pita'ed - you will get this humor soon) between Lt Bourke and Lonsdale is a perfect example.   As a part of the Laneways Commisions in 2001-2 a Word and Ways installation was set up by Evangelos Sakaris. The random assortment of street signs is tucked between China Town and Little Greece and features quotes from Lao Tzy a Chinese philosopher and Herclitus a Greek philosopher. If my earlier joke ... A little eye candy…
Now pick your minds up from the gutter. This is a PG (perfectly gorgeous) blog and for today I thought I would share some pics taken last year as Bean and I were frivolously extravagant and supped on Macarons from The Tea Room at the NGV while wandering about Melbourne. After browsing the NGV, gazing at the ceiling and having a lovely catch up we picked up a macaron each (Pistachio for Bean and my beloved Violet Macaron for moi) headed out for a stroll. A delightful way to spend an afternoon.  ... Look Up, Paton Building…
The Paton Building is one of those buildings that looks sweetly squished between two larger buildings as it sits patiently on Elizabeth St.   I actually hadn't intended to include this building as a solo feature in this set of posts (I just snapped the pics while photographing The City of Melbounre Building across the road (the one that houses my imaginary apartment and lifestyle) - read the post before you write that sentence off as crazy. Then you are free to call it as crazy as you ... Read More

Look Up, The City of Melbourne Building…
The city of Melbourne Building is one of the buildings that houses the fantasy inner city apartment of my imagination. With its curved wall between Lt Collins and Elizabeth St, Round Windows, Balconies and Turrets I have happily fantasised about a sweet little Melbournian Girl sized apartment on the very top floor where I will sip champagne, entertain friends and lead the most fabulously eccentric lifestyle...   The building, dated 1888 (cool year huh?), was built for the short lived ... Look Up, Buckley & Nunn Ltd…
I thought this week I would do a series of posts about looking up in Melbourne. Most people wandering about the city pay little attention to the stunning architecture so prevalent in our city. We seem to have wiped our ground level clear of the beautiful Victorian, turn of the century and art deco buildings that fill the city from the first floor up with generic (ok, sometimes glitteringly pretty) glass store fronts.         So over the next few days I will be ... Happy Friday…
Do you ever have one of those weeks when you don't seem to actually spend any time at home? Well that's the sort of week I am having so in lieu of an actual post I offer you some random pics... Because when don't Macarons in cheerful colors brighten a day? My new (and addictively easy) Nespresso machine New Years Eve eve at Middle Brighton Beach The Christmas illuminations in the city The Yarra with high post rain water... A little bling from Nicole Fendel Jewlery and our ... Read More
