Gewürzhaus or bless you…
Do you ever make a find...the kind that makes you feel like you have stumbled into somewhere a little magical? Gewürzhaus, a herb and spice merchant on Lygon St in Carlton, Melbourne, is as close to an adult lolly shop as I have found. Walking up Lygon beneath  this afternoons massive down pour (that Melbourne managed to carry out with its usual flair) the warm glow of light emanating beckoned my bedraggled self into the wonderland.Row upon row of spice blends, herbs, teas, sugars and ... The Melbourne Shop…
Can you imagine my delight when I stumbled upon The Melbourne Shop one fine afternoon? Tucked into the sweetest little space on Equitable Place, a small Melbourne laneway, this pop up store, a baby of the Lumbi brand, opened in December. As you may be able to guess this store specializes in all things Melbourne with a strong bent towards graphics. The owner of the Melbourne Shop, an enterprising Melburnian, was just the kind of man to take the inspiration of our awesome city (I use the word ... Read More

Can you adjust…
I have just discovered necklace extenders much to my delight and the new life it has applied to my necklaces. The current trend to wear necklaces at the eighteen inch or twenty inches has left a lot of my fifteen and sixteen inch necklaces sitting dormant in my jewelry cupboard sobbing their little hearts out. So I knew in theory what I needed, a necklace extender, but did such a thing exist or would I need to get one of those looped chains that hang down the back (not what I wanted). Google ... Read More

Shimmer with meaning and Nicole Fendel jewels…
I have never made a secret of my love of being bejewelled (isn’t that a delicious word) so when I received an email from Melbourne based label, Nicole Fendel Jewellery, advertising the launch of their new website I had to go and take a peek. This jewellery is creative, full of promise and something a little bit different (always great to find) and to be perfectly honest instead of just the quick token glance I had intended I think I spent about half an hour admiring the different pieces on the ... An evening stroll…
There is something about Maling Rd that requires the word stroll don't you think? A few weeks ago Sim and I headed here on a lovely Wednesday evening to partake of the Maling Rd Moonlight Shopping event. I had heard about this event several months ago when I met some friends for a birthday brunch here and had popped it into my diary. As a part of this event the majority of the stores on this quaint street had agreed to stay open until 9pm, many serving champagne and nibbles, and there was a roving ... Read More

Take 2 Market…
When Sim invited me to join her at the November Take 2 Market at Hawthorne Town Hall I was happy to accept. What a perfect way to spend a Sunday! The idea of over 80 stalls selling budget friendly vintage and pre loved/bought but never wore fashion was right up my street. The market itself launched in 2007 by the enterprising (and lovely) Rina. It's held several times a year with applications open to anyone to hold a store. Most of the store holders were selling their old clothes, accessories and ... Read More
