Dear Readers – what a great day! Melbourne moved to top of the ranks named the “Worlds Most Livable City” and I can announce the two winners of the giveaway!

I have been loosely following the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Survey (what a mouthful but EIUGLS is no better though) for years. I remember sitting at my desk in London years ago and being so psyched when Melbourne was announced as worlds third most livable city that I sent it to half the office. (come now – you aren’t surprised are you?).

So while many of us have known this forever it’s great that the analytics and the world has finally caught up! Our strongest competition has arisen from Vancouver over the years but this year after losing some points on the transport front and some civil unrest Melbourne has hit the top!! It’s also great to see three other Australian cities (Sydney at 7th and Perth and Adelaide tied at 8th) claimed positions in the top ten.

Will we get a parade? Perhaps some environmentally friendly ticker tape? Maybe not but hopefully it will get a bit of press and give us yet another reason to be happy to call this wonderful city home (or just to visit it!!).
