On a sugar high yet?
Am grieved to say today is the last day of my cupcake-a-thon! Naturally, I will always be on the lookout for great cupcakes but five in a row I think is more than enough to tide us over for some time, yes?
So without further ado let me introduce you to Cupcake Central. It’s been open for about eleven weeks now in the newest section of the Dining Hall at Melbourne Central (Their Hawthorne store has been open about a year). It has an AMZING and rotating “cupcake central calendar” selection in both baby cake and cupcake size.
The look of this little corner counter is a blend of almost industrial cute. And yet it works. Cupcake Central have plenty of space so you can see the cupcakes being created with a glass wall on one side, and the display case is filled with jars of sprinkles and uses little wooden forks to tell you each flavour. Their slogan is “hatch that dream” which is odd until you look at their cute logo.
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to go to a party where the theme was “cupcakes” – so the organizers I feel must have ransacked this entire shop for cupcakes! There was such a throng of people crowded around these little sweet morsels that Skate and I grabbed the first two week could and skipped of to the corner to devour (and photograph) these mini darlings.
We managed to snag a Pear cupcake and a Salted Caramel cupcake one (there may been some time wasting debate over flavours here). The pear was a winner for me and after I shared my half Skate, despite all his promises, refused to share the salted caramel so I think it must have been good!
Last week CJ and I managed to duck back to try out the cupcakes. It was quite early and they only had a few flavors ready. I really wanted to try the cherry pistachio (yum!) and they were kind enough to make them the next batch they iced so I could try! The team were so lovely and chatty and friendly that CJ and I were impressed.
We loved the cupcakes and its great how nice the dining hall is now that it’s lovely to pull up a chair, watch the world go buy and eat a mini cupcake.
