When I was in France I was taking to a sort of green grocer that I had been sold stocked a range of fruit and vegetables that was sure to impress my vegetarian heart.
After a nearly a week in France this was an interesting concept, as vegetarian food isn’t particularly French compatible. So as you may guess I was a little dubious about this, sure I love fruit and vegetables…but impressed by a store selling a wider range than normal. Really?
This place was, well, sorta cool. The Grand Frais Market, this one in Roanne, was giant, fresh and bright and seemed to have fruit and veggies from every continent.
Twenty types of apples? Not a problem.
Choice of ten types of carrots, step on up! Each item was clearly labeled, if you can read French, with origin and a few details in a big bright sign hung above its section.
I loved taking photos here as everything looked so amazing.
And for those of you who shudder at all that fruit and veg there was a section to the side selling meats and one at the front selling sweets, candy and lollies.
