I have just spent the past two hours making a hand crafted birthday card which unfortunately looks a little like fridge worthy kinder art. While I happily admit my crafting skills are rather on the low end – they were perhaps further sullied as I was also watching Lipstick Jungle.
You may not recall Lipstick Jungle, which came out about the same time as Cashmere Mafia, both designed to be the new Sex and the City but with a stronger focus on having a great career and with a blend of the cast a little older and married. I loved both these series, dare I say more than SATC, unfortunately, both were short lived being heavily hit by the writers strike in the States and being released at the same time. One of the many things I loved about both these shows is the accessories these women rock. They are bold, statement, stunning and as far removed from my tiffany floating heart as can be. These women knew how to dress.
The show always inspires me to mix up my accessories a bit so I thought I would share a really great Melbourne find with you. While the women on the show blend very expensive pieces with fashion jewelry I am more of a…shall we say economic shopper? Lovisa, a fairly new chain has been providing strong competition to Diva and Collette and has taken it one step further with a factory outlet located at the Spenser St Shopping Centre in the heart of the city. This store has an amazing range of statement, fashion forward and more conservative pieces all for $10 or less. Uh huh, you read that correctly.
I actually found out about it when gifted with this stunning necklace I had been eyeing off for some time. When proclaiming it was far too rich a gift the gifter (my beloved sis) explained it’s $10 origins.
I have since been a few times and thought I would share my bounty.
These earrings which take me back to the glamourous world of black and white Hollywood were $7. I love their color, elegance and style but am still working up the courage to wear them somewhere more casual than I have been so far (the girl at the shop was wearing them with a t-shirt and jeans and they looked amazing).
This broach I have pinned to my coat, bag, scarf, dress and even to a long chain to really glam it up. It was $5. I may one day even go so far to pin it to an up do – I love it’s glittery militaryness.
And finally this bejeweled scarf can be worn as a head scarf, neck scarf or bag accessory but most commonly for me twisted around my wrist as a cuff. It was the princely sum of $3.
So if you are feeling the need to glam it up a little I couldn’t recommend a trip to Lovisa more. If you like a bargain then would especially recommend you check out the outlet store.
Now all that’s left for me to decide which jewels I shall wear to the theater tonight…
