Melbourne has gone a little crazy. A week ago we all had our noses in the air and it was only the weekly glossy mags that really went into detail about the forthcoming nuptials. We knew it would be televised of course but who is to say what we would be doing on a Friday night?

And then today it seems it is the number one topic – are you going to a party? Will it be the sort with Tiaras/Fascinators/moccasins (yes we cater for all extremes)? Did you watch the Will and Kate movie on Chanel 10? (I recorded it but snuck in the first 20 mins and had to drag myself away – best worst movie ever!). Have you got a replica Kate Middleton Engagment Ring? And I happily laughed at all of this…until today when I found myself eyeing up a similar looking dress at Ojay and stepping into Diva to buy a replica ring. Please don’t shun me. I love it!

Diva has a small section of it’s display earmarked for the royal wedding featuring pearls and diamonds galore…and a replica sapphire diamond ring. At $12.99 this is my sort of souvenir- sorry stamps and coins! The Burke St Mall store sold out today and the Melbourne Central Stores only had one or two left with someone buying one at both stores I looked in. The Diva head office was express shipping them out because of all the calls they received. Crazy.

This ring is rather pretty, while not a close replica it is still easy to identify it as a want to be Kate ring. I wonder if my mother bought something similar last time round? The ring has a giant glossy blue “sapphire” surrounded by lots of smaller diamonds on a high raised platform. It is rather appealing.

If you are off to celebrate tomorrow and aren’t headed to a party there are plenty of venues in town doing something including the Cricketers Arms at the Windsor Hotel complete with a cardboard Wills and Kate. It somehow all seems very fitting and rather tempting to stop in for a happy snap!

But I am off to admire my new bling and prepare the house for my friends coming to celebrate tomorrow night (we will be wearing Fascinators).
