Yesterday, as I was flipping through the MX I was pleased to discover an article revealing that Melbourne now has a 24/7 Post Office Super Store!

24/7 Post Office

The SuperStore will be a ‘zone’ set up at the 111 Bourke St Post Office that will offer vending machines, parcel lockers (!!!!!!!!), and self service terminals. It will also have a Harvey World Travel store and an American Express Currency Exchange outlet. To oversee the ‘zone’ a concierge will also be available.

But for me it’s the parcel service that is the big news. While these days I rarely have an issue receiving parcels thanks to my lovely building there have been far too many times in my life where I have had to leave work in a rush to get to the post office in time or drag my self to the post office early on a Saturday morning to pick up a parcel. And that was in the days before I fell in love with the wonders of online shopping. I get a lot more parcels these days!

24/7 Post Office

The Superstore is the second for Australia after one launched in QLD last year and trial was run in St Kilda I believe. Either way I love the our Post Office seems to be reinventing itself and that we get one of the first here in Melbourne (I believe 30 more are to come Australia wide).

They have also announced we will get an Australia Post Digital Mailbox. I have yet to make up my mind on this one…I kind of like my hotmail/gmail set up. But who knows… perhaps I shall set one up….

  1. I hadn’t heard about that – I’d say there’ll be plenty of people who appreciate the convenience
