Bean, Dino and I headed around Southbank originally looking for a bar and did a quick 180 (a girls perogative I believe) and decided tea was really what we were after (yup – wild child) somewhere serene and lovely and well Langham ish to settle down and have a good cose.
We scotted around to the front of the hotel, away from the river, and inhaled the luxury as we stepped into the lower lobby and up the sweeping stair cases still boasting luxurious decorations from the holidays. The staircase spilits into two curves several times and offers the perfect opportunity for grand entrances, races or even a musical glee inspired moment. We went with the middle option but in a subtle and ladylike way of course.
At the top of the stairs we found the restaurant and Aria Bar and Lounge where we scouted out the perfect arrangment of sofas and low rise table to settle down in. The seating options here are wide and varied from intimate little teta a tete spaces to a few areas that would hold a really decent sized group – the refined elegant sort naturally, not the roudy kind. We were then brought drink menus that contained two pages dedicated to blends of devine sounding tea which our waitress informed us had just been updated that very day. I went with the Langham Blend, Bean selected the Cleopatras Champagne and Dino selected a Jasmine tea blend.
The tea was brought out in silver pots with silver jugs of hot water, milk in silver and sugar cubes in silver. I do so love a silver tea service. As we sipped our tea we soaked in the chandelier lighting, the grand piano and our luxurious sounds.
The Aria Bar at the Lanham works well as a place to take tea or celebrate with champagne or catch up over cocktails I also hear they do Chocolate themed high teas…this may need to go onto my must do list at some point.
