So after our coffees and fruit sodas we decided to mix it up. Alcohol. Yay. Our next stop on our OP (Offspring filming locations Plan) was to head to the infamous Madame Sou Sou. This is one of those places that seems to have mastered the trifecta – popular brunch, lunch and dinner venue. And pretty good for coffee and hot drinks in between. This cafe is used in Season 1 when Nina meets the very very handsome Chris Havels wife for a coffee (before running over her foot).

We arrived at this institution about six and ordered wine and champagne.

We were seated inside with a nice spot by the window. The drinks were promptly served by a friendly Irish (?) waitress and we were left to gaze around the cute French brasserie. From the funky paintings lining every available part of the wall to the expansive wine list we had a feeling we zipped to the other side of the world and were indeed in Paris.

While there we noticed a card stuck to the ceiling. We debated – was this the start of an artistic piece and they just hadn’t realized how much work it would be (dare insay lazily at the first card), or some sort of game (recall the sex & the city episode about random cards around the city) ? No, after enquiring of our friendly waitress (unfortunately this was a distinction point between them) we were told it is in fact a remnant of a staff members party and a magician about 2 years ago. So regular SouSouers now you know. And if you never wondered – who are you???

At about quarter to seven in what was still a very quite cafe we were told we needed to give up our table as they were fully booked with a record breaking busy night. We took that as our queue to move along. I am never a fan of being pushed from a venue unless it’s obviously packed and the table is pre reserved but a part of me still hopes to go back for one of the greatly reviewed brunches…but will book a table.
