Port Fairy Folk Festival 2012…
Can you think of a nicer way to spend a labour day weekend than listening to lovely music at the Port Fairy Folk Festival?   I was lucky enough to return for a third year of folkie goodness, carrying my low chair over my shoulder and drinking soy lattes to a lovely range of music.   The Port Fairy Folk Festival spans four days beginning Friday evening and ending lunch time on Monday. This year we drove down Friday after work so while we had a chance to see some of country ... Read More

Happy Valentines Day…
Valentines day is one of those days we either love to love (especially if you are in the hallmark business or happily besotted) or love to hate with protestations that's it's a commercial love only and we should declare our love (if we have any I guess) daily and not need prompting from a long dead saint or a baby with bow and arrow.   However, I love the chintz of it all and think its a sweet day to show those we love we care about them (not of course that we need an excuse but really ... How open are you…
This week and next Melbourne is all about the Australian Open. The city is invaded (welcomingly) by thousands of visitors here to take part in the action and activities. Most of us had pre paid tickets but we had to grab one from ... Read More

Flying with Falkor at the Open Air Cinema in St Kilda…
Last night I went to the St Kilda Open Air Cinema on top of the St Kilda Baths to give me a hatrick for outdoor movies in the last month.   We managed to get a discount coupon (there seem to be a lot around for this cinema) the day before allowing us to get two tickets (inc deck chair) for $22 - bargain!   Apple and I decided to drive down but I hadn't really given much thought to parking in St Kilda  - was it going to cost me more than the movie? I googled with little success ... Read More

An evening stroll…
There is something about Maling Rd that requires the word stroll don't you think? A few weeks ago Sim and I headed here on a lovely Wednesday evening to partake of the Maling Rd Moonlight Shopping event. I had heard about this event several months ago when I met some friends for a birthday brunch here and had popped it into my diary. As a part of this event the majority of the stores on this quaint street had agreed to stay open until 9pm, many serving champagne and nibbles, and there was a roving ... Read More
