A stroll and amble…
A visit to Maling Rd, Canterbury, is a little like stepping back in time, so every so often when you feel the pull to spend some leisurely time brunching and browsing this is the perfect spot. The verandah lined streets are filled with gift shops, antiques, boutiques, jewelers and cafes. I should be upfront and say it's more of a girly street than a boyish street and has a natural lean to the older generation. However, I can't recall a time when I haven't loved going for a stroll down the street, ... Read More

Are you a Block Tart…
There is something so luxurious about snuggling into bed on a winters eve with a good book. A few weeks ago (when we lived in a world with Borders and Angus & Robertson) I was lucky enough to snag a discounted copy of the giant Encyclopedia of Melbourne. This book is massive both in size and content and I just keep marveling at the wondrous and bizarre history of our pretty city. A la folie ma Cherie……
Melbourne. Macaron. Melbourne. Macaron. Anyone else a little pleased by this trend? There is something about all their shiny candy colourdness that makes me happy. Positioned in the middle of the arcade, A La Folie, is more of an inner counter than a shop. It's so prettily decked out with just the ... Read More

Take a breath and become stationery…
I, like so many girls (and guys) out there have a love affair with stationery. There is something about it that compels me to stroke notebooks lovingly, look longingly at piles of card stock and insanely hoard writing paper that I stopped using decades ago. And then there are the accessories. The photo albums, ribbons, wax seals, scrapbooks, journals and special occasion craft project cards that I swoon for. Now in a dream world could I just combine these things with an environment that was worthy ... Read More

Caramel flats and pearls…
After today's ever changing weather I felt a rare desire to be ensconced in an all under one roof shopping centre. Now for me there are generally only two choices when this urge takes place - Chadstone and Doncaster. Chadstone because I can't imagine what isn't there and Doncaster because it's only a 15min drive from the city. Given the proximity of my dear friends Bean and Dino (alias names that they have reluctantly agreed to) Doncaster came up trumps. One of the biggest trends we noticed was ... Read More
