Call the switchboard…
The Switchboard Café tucked into two small nook in the wall spaces at the foot of the Manchester Union building is absolutely enchanting in its very own quirky way. I have long had an obsession with the stunning building for its old world charm and history and the café serves it all up right on a plate…or in a cup. Looking for somewhere to head for a quick and easy lunch I wondered past the switchboard cafe and was tempted by the people eating avocado on toast outside in the walkthrough ... Read More

A Sweet Source…
This is one of those places where you almost want to pinch yourself as you walk in. It's exactly how a cafe selling sweet cakes should look. Exactly. Its even situated perfectly at the foot of the quirky charming Rathdowne Village, a favorite haunt of mine. On Sunday with yet another beautifully sunny morning spreading out in front of me I decided it was the perfect day to have an impromptu picnic in the park. I will be honest here that I generally spend an hour or two most weekends at the park ... Read More

Caffeine palace…
The Federal Coffee Palace in any other city would belong to tourists. We evidently don't share as it's generally locals stepping away from the hustle and bustle of Elizabeth St who end up grabbing coffee or a quick bite here.Tucked on the side of the GPO the cafe itself is small and unassuming, what makes it rock is the outdoor seating in the GPO verandah. It's a beautiful place to sit and sip a coffee or catch up with friends under the softly glowing arches with sunlight (if you are lucky) streaming ... Read More

I wanna get CLOSE to you…
Mister Close is one of those places I watched with much dubiousness as it prepared to open over a month ago. It had all the makings of somewhere cool but is located in the middle of the MidTown Plaza (Target centre) in the CBD (need I say more?). Well I was foolish to wonder, this little creation has added something new and fresh to the lunch spot options in the middle of Melbourne and while I love walking down alleyways and up stairs it's nice to find somewhere so accessible. CJ and I headed ... Read More

Why yes sir, yes sir…
Three Bags Full has been on my to go list for some time now partly because it consistently gets rave reviews for both it's coffee and food and partly because I love the name from the nursery rhyme. So on Saturday, freshly coiffured from my scoopon visit to the Y Salon I met Dino for a late lunch. I was hoping we would be able to sit outside with binks but the weather was so cold she in all her puppy wisdom refused to get out of the car and we were freezing just waiting to meet outside, so alls well ...
