You'll be Gleadell you went…
For some reason I always thought if If I wanted yummy fresh fruit and veggies straight from the farm my beloved Queen Vic was my only option. I am not sure why looking for local farmers markets (which I lived off of in NY) never seemed an option for me here. And then I discovered the Gleadell St Farmers Market. Located oddly enough on...you guessed it...Gleadell Street Market in Richmond, this Saturday farmers market is a weekly or fortnightly visit for me. They have a great range ... Read More

From Rubble to Riches…
I love it when the place I visit comes with an inbuilt cheesy heading for me, if you havn't noticed they are my preference. Rubble to Riches is a large Trash and Treasure weekend market in Laverton. On Saturday morning I was up unholidaily early (about 6am as Binky decided she was done with sleeping and wanted to be LOUD and ANNOYING) and there aren't many places one can go to that early in the morning that are dog friendly. Shirt and Skirt Market at Abbotsford Convent…
When Dino invited Bean and I to join her and Mother Dino to the Shirt and Skirt Market at the Abbotsford convent we both agreed in a flash. The market, held on the third Sunday each month, is held on the gorgeous grounds of the convent located just off Johnston St. The market showcases crafts, knits, jewelry, leatherwork, odds and ends and...shirts and skirts. It sprawls across the grounds at the front and side of the convent and then inside (if you can find it). Upon arriving we all headed to ... Read More

It’s coming up roses…

It's a little like stepping into Etsy. In fact many of the store holders are on Etsy. The Rose St Artists Market is tucked in a back street of Fitzroy and offers a wide range of crafty hand crafted goods. The mostly open air space is in a former junk yard and has been around since 2003. It's one of those places that often feels like a locals secret and stepping into the grounds as a non local is a little like entering a secret garden. It was a perfect day for browsing (or sitting in the park) and ... Read More
