Up up and away…
*don't forget to enter the La Clinica giveaway here* Every so often I am up with the sun on a weekend. I love the feeling that for a little while the city is all mine in its quite preparation for the day ahead. In every big city I have lived in I have on the odd occasion had cause for walking (and in the rare instance - jogging) around as the sun rises. It's a time in which I think all city's have a chance to shine without the hustle and bustle of people. London is all about a deserted Pall Mall ... Read More

Can you Rococo…
Our 6th stop as part of our Melbourne Open House Day expedition was the Plaza Ballroom. This is one of those places that must surprise everyone the first time they walk through the doors. Tucked under Miss Louise (a Melbourne Shoe institution) and the Regent Theatre you enter through grand doors and head down a sweeping stairway to a reception area. Happy Census 2011…
Ok, the Census is really more of a Nationwide thing, in fact it's been 100 years since the first time it was Nationwide, but I figure most of Melbourne is participating in it tonight. This is my first census as an independent adult when I have been in Australia on census night - and I have been weirdly excited about it! I love the idea that in 99 years my data will be out there should anyone care to look at it. Of course they won't. But still. -screen shot from my iPad. Bean, Dino and I all headed ... Read More

Let’s have a yarn…
Bourke St Mall has been invaded by crochet knit, butterflies and flowers. All together. Walking through the mall last week I was charmed by how pretty and sweet something so spontaneous could look. The Twilight Taggers, yarn bombers, are taking Melbourne Street art somewhere a little different...and I for one am enchanted. For more information on Bali, the woman behind the art - http://www.twilighttaggers.blogspot.com/ While I heard someone raise the inevitable - art or vandalism? I am happily ... Read More

Who’s up for Gløgg…
A surprise stop on Melbourne Open House Day was Ikea Denmark House. We were strolling back into the city after visiting the Hellenic Museum and heading to the Myer Mural Hall when we noticed one of the many "look at me" "I'm open" and "In here" signs waving out the front. Tucked up on the third floor of a very traditional office block it felt like stepping into the middle of Copenhagen. The space is open, airy and bright and was a real surprise to us. We visited the meeting room and then explored ... Read More
