…does anyone know it’s there? I feel like I have made a find!! Ok, as I recall Locks talking about it a little while ago perhaps not my very own find but still a little chuffed.
The Wharf Hotel is something you are unlikely to stumble upon unless you are looking for it or live within 200 meters. We made it there unplanned on our Aquarium visit day as part of my “I want to explore North Bank” expedition. And what a star pub. It reminded me of the pubs along the Thames in London, amazing view, great space, good food, good wine list and unaccountably quiet. Tucked underneath the WTC and only a blue sign pointing to it on Spencer St this i guess begins to explain it – I believe they are busy on a Friday night and i would imagine in Summer but it’s the kind of place that deserves to be always busy.
We grabbed a long high table outside (if anyone knows the art of sitting at these tables when you are short please let me know) and perused the menu. I slackly went with Lemon Lime and Bitters but Bean had a Pear Cider that seemed perfect. With the outdoor heater on we sat side by side so we could soak up the view and decided to order some snacks for lunch (the mains looked great too).
The food was generous, well priced and yum! The staff were all friendly and helpful and the venue was clean, spacious and had a great decor. I wish this place was a little closer to me but can see myself heading back here many times over. Perhaps even with my trusty iPad on a cold and blustery day (will sit indoors) to write a future blog. I love being near the water when it’s a bit miserable (especially if I get to be safe and warm indoors).
So if you are looking for somewhere relaxed, well priced and a bit different then head here!!

Pear cider – yum!
I know! I love that it’s become so popular
Nice find! Always wonder what was on that side of the bridge. May check it out when it’s a little warmer/dryer.
