Normally I hold off my Saturday Snap Backs, well, ’till Saturday- but today I thought I would give you the chance to plan around the awesomeness that is Take 2 Markets that will be happening at Northcote Town Hall this Sunday (26th February).

It’s a great place to grab a bargain and even meet some lovely people including Candice DeVille and Simone Hartill both at the event!

So without further ado…let me take (you) 2 markets…

(will I ever get over my cheesy lines?)

When Sim invited me to join her at the November Take 2 Market at Hawthorne Town Hall I was happy to accept. What a perfect way to spend a Sunday! The idea of over 80 stalls selling budget friendly vintage and pre loved/bought but never wore fashion was right up my street.

The market itself launched in 2007 by the enterprising (and lovely) Rina. It’s held several times a year with applications open to anyone to hold a store. Most of the store holders were selling their old clothes, accessories and shoes, essentially a mish mash of second hand and those items we buy but never wear. There were a few stores (vintage/second hand) that also had stalls but the majority was just regular girls clearing out their wardrobes and making a little extra cash.

A group of us arrived about ten minutes to ten am when the doors opened and joined the queue of eagerly awaiting women, the majority carrying spare bags ready to be filled with bargains. We poured in happily handing over our $3 entry fee and everyone split apart to concentrate on the key goal. Finding bargains!

We spent nearly an hour and a half rummaging for bargains with everyone in our happy little group leaving with a find. I was thrilled to find a silk skirt (actually a dress but will soon be a skirt ($20) – gypsy style neck line requiring a little editing). The picture shows it paired with an Ojay $9 bargain from their warehouse sale we visited later in the day.

I also scored a never worn Saba dress ($30) that is perfect for work, a pair of unworn white Lacoste ($15) boat shoes (I am addicted to boat shoes at the moment) and a black bead necklace($5).

The prices ranged from one of our groups bargains of the day – a stunning new white faith trench coat for $5 to $250 for vintage Chanel scarfs (none of our group left with one despite eyeing them longingly). I chose not to bargain for the majority as the prices all seemed reasonable but there was a little friendly haggling going on!

This was the last event for the year but I can’t wait to go again next year! I think these events are now happening globe wide ( different organizations) and if you are lucky enough to live in Melbourne you can get updates about the Take2Markets here and if not am sure a good google search will reveal something similar near you!

—- Hope you have a chance to make it to the Take 2 Markets Northcote this weekend. If you don’t live nearby hopefully there will be a similar event near you!
