…everyone at the Hawthorn Craft Market evidently. Feeling on a craft high after the Rose St Market I decided to head to the Hawthorn Town Hall Craft Market. Think Etsy meets nanna. The setting itself is a beautiful old hall with a stage at one end and a gallery at the other, I would liked to imagine a ye olde ball would have taken place there. Bean and I spent a good half hour wandering the stalls. The variety of crafts on display was amazing with everything from clothes, knitted everything, toys, soaps, organic jams and jewelry on display. Most of the stall keepers were happy to have a chat about their wares and talk about the effort that had gone into them.

We wandered up and down and fell in love with a few stores especially those featured below. Many of the older stall holders preferred not to have their stalls or their wares photographed so I had to limit my pic but my three favorites kindly let me take a happy snap.

The first called Pearl and Bamboo I adore. It turns the Japanese art of paper folding into Jewlery. The items use a blend of paper cranes or litlle paper dumplings with pretty stones, earring drops or semi precious stones. It turns out I actually have a pair of pink crane earrings from this store I got gifted years ago (the store owner is a friend of a friend) and always get compliments on! I spent some time eyeing up a necklace, the only thing preventing me from purchasing is I had purchased one the day before.

The second store, Threadneedle and Bloom, had a darling bouquet of ribbon flowers in pins and other assorted formats. This sort of thing speaks instantly to my inner nana or inner I want to live a quite life persona. So pretty. I can’t find my note of the shops details but will update when I can!

My final favorite is all about the vintage. L’Empire De Talauru It’s a little like wearing an Austen, Bronte or Victorian novel or stepping into Paris. A lot of the Jewlery is based around – you know what I can’t describe it without it sounding less than it is. Look at the pics below…

See – super pretty and how cute is the bracelet – I tried it on and think it is stunning. On my wish list.

This is a nice Sunday market and worth watching the calendar for it’s appearance on the first Sunday of each month. It doesn’t take too long to look around but Glenferrie Rd is a short stroll away and a great place for brunch and a browse.

On an aside recall when I mentioned being smitten with my friends new bag from Portmans – well I saw a similar looking one in Madison for over $1,200!
