A few weeks ago the girls and I paid a visit to The Boulevard Restaurant in Kew. Perched upon a hill overlooking the golf course this place could be on a country estate; it’s only the glimpse of the city skyline a few kilometers away that confirms you are about ten minutes away.

The Boulevard restaurant is primarily a stunning function centre that doubles as a restaurant. We visited using one of those coupon vouchers that gave us two courses and wine for two for $49. It was wonderful value. We arrived on a Friday evening nearing the end of Summer. Lam and I drove the fifteen minutes in post work traffic and were pleased to find easy parking. We entered the main restaurant to find it full although there were a few empty spaces with no tables that reminded us we were in a function venue a opposed to a restaurant. But only for a moment and then we took in the view.

Th lawn spread picturesquely out in front of us with the city sparkling in the distance. Ok, my photos here on out can paint the picture (even I can tell when I lose my grip on prose). Ordering was imply with access to the full a la carte menu with a good range of options and good wait staff.

Our starters (we opted for stars instead of deserts) came out quickly and were absolutely delicious. Carefully thought out and interesting combinations. I was chuffed with my vegetable tempura with mango chutney. It was so good I wanted to lick my plate. Shame it was the kind of place where it would have been frowned upon. I am sure Lamb, Java and Bean wouldn’t have thought less of me.

Their starters looked good too and rave reviews at both taste and portion size came from all sides. Our mains were equally impressive, I loved the pan fried gnocchi that makes me rethink all my gnocchi thoughts. And the pie thing that Bean had looked so impressive. Again all the dishes were well tought out and really tasty. Full kudos to the chef, we all enjoyed our meals and the evening.

We even mangled to squeeze in a little space for desert…well, one for the table made it the ideal solution!

All in all a lovely find an I hope I have the chance to return to The Boulevard restaurant again.

  1. The park sits on the shores of the Clinch River, just northwest of Knoxville on the way to Oak Ridge. With close to 30 miles of trails, Haw Ridge has a wide range of terrain to conquer including some grueling climbs along the main ridge that runs through the middle of the park.
