Yes it’s finally true – Zara is set to open in our very own Bourke St Mall later this month! Rumor has it there is a Media and VIP session on the 14th June and then the masses (i.e. Me ) will be given entre into this fashion haven on the 15th June!!!
Here are some recent pics of the building works – but they seem to stepping forward in leaps and bounds working around the clock…
As I mentioned in a previous blog I have cheated a little and stopped by the Sydney Store – sigh. Its lovely and I already have my eye out for several items I hope to see in the Melb store. Our store will be about 1700 sq meters (huge) and over at least two floors. the only catch is we may have to queue for awhile if Sydney is any indication with people waiting for over an hour during the first weeks and with rumor being 80% of the stock sold out in the first three minutes (although how a cash register can work this quickly is beyond me).
So fingers crossed we will be getting our Zara on soon.
An interesting point all the Zara chatter has raised is what will be the impact on other nearby fashion institutes? I have heard a few people say Supre or Cotton on might be affected but feel as they play in a completely different fashion arena they will be safe. More concern should fall to Witchery, Country Road, Ojay and Cue (Portmans and Sportsgirl would be the next price bracket down in my guesstimation). An interesting post can be found on My Bloggable Day.

…whoa hadn’t realized I looked quite so obsessive….
UPDATE: the queues tonight (June 14th) were MASSIVE and it’s only preview night – barricades all set for door open at 9am on Wed 15th – happy shopping all!!

So exciting! I hope it makes it to Sydney soon. I miss it (from London dayz).
Good news then – because it’s in Sydney!! It’s located in the Westfields in the city centre! Happy Shopping.
Zara is crazy over here in Sydney, it’s been open for months and there are still lines to get inside! It’s madness!
I am guessing the Melbourne Zara will be crazy for some time too! The good news is that it sounds like they are thinking of opening more across Australia.
The store will DEFINITELY be three levels of retail. Opening Wednesday 15 June. It’s expected to be huge, the 4th and 5th level store rooms are stocked to the ceiling.
